Event Wrap-Up: Fortinet Upgrade Program


On Tuesday, May 17, 2011 from 12 noon to 1:30 pm James Balderson, the Fortinet Regional Sales Manager for Western Canada presented the Fortinet Upgrade Program to an interested crowd of IT professionals. The lunch time event was catered by Loveys bbq and was sponsored by Fortinet.

The presentation described how upgrading your network security with FortiOS would bring your organization to the next level. As well as describing how Broadview can provide very compelling pricing through the Fortinet Trade In and Trade Up Program.

Conference Run-Down


Broadview Networks remains busy this month taking part in two well recognized conferences. Both events are sponsored by Dell.

The National Education and Technology Conference takes place on Thursday, May 12th and 13th, 2011 at Gimli Lakeview Resort in Gimli, Manitoba. This annual two day conference brings presenters from across Canada and the United States to cover the many timely issues in technology and education.

Discussion will cover:

* Multimedia
* Internet
* Infusing ICT into the classroom

Presenters regularly include both technology and education experts. Tyson Choptain, Broadview Networks Vice-President and Senior Consultant will lead the following breakout sessions:

“Security in the Digital Campus”

The proliferation of wireless networks, wireless devices for administrative and curriculum usage, as well as the potential of student devices being brought into the campus network is radically changing how we think about network security. The requirements for providing the necessary access while providing the appropriate security to protect the network, the data, and privacy are the key components to develop a multi-layered security strategy. We will explore the types of products and policies that can be utilized to provide complete security solutions for the educational environment.

ISACA Winnipeg Chapter is hosting their 2011 Western Canada Information Security Conference.
